New central heating system at Malax factory
In February 2023, a new wood chip heating plant was commissioned in Malax. The new facility will heat the three existing factory units (in total appr. 18,000 m2) and has capacity for extensions.
The heating plant is one of the most modern and efficient of its type and size in Finland and consists of three computer-controlled 300 kW Austian KBW wood chip boilers plus a back-up oil boiler of 500 kW.
As an extra feature, there is a 20 m3 buffer water tank that evens out the load enabling the boilers to run at a lower and more even output.
With this new heating system, the use of fossil fuel can be reduced to 0.
